Notes

Abstract: This work endeavors to understand the very personal process of learning and subsequently adopting a professional tradition. Interviews were conducted with six clown students to learn about how they viewed the process of learning to become a clown. The biggest question the clowns faced was whether or not there exists such a thing as a 'natural' clown or 'natural talent'. The interviews were informed by sociologically relevant literature related to issues of performance, learning and professions.
