"A happy myth since 1964" INCOMING CLASS ARRESTED! UPI (Sarasota)In a surprise move by Sarasota police officers and the local airport authority, over 100 new stu dents at the University of South Florida Sarasota campus (New College) were arrested and detained in the city jail for several hours. The airport land includes a NEW COLLEGE MUG BOOK 1988-1989 a 3-foot square section near the s t udent dorms, and a single urinal in the student center bathroom. "Maybe the kids'll learn something from this, one U.S .F. campus police officer declared. "Th.ey don't seem to care 'bout nothin but themselves. I've seen some crazy things here, let me tell you--open co habitation of two males of the same sex In one room! Playin' loud music dancin' naked, I don t know what else! These kids have got to be protected from themselves!" The students were informed that the handcuffing and fingerprinting proce dures were "a necessary part of orienta tion," and their parents (cont. page 18)
