NEWS RELEASE NEw CoLLEGE SARASOTA, FLORIDA 33578 1 180 -5/1/68 813 / 355-7131 Ref.: Furman c. Arthur FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE College fourth year student John H. Peters of South Bend, Indiana has been awarded a Fulbright Fellowship; for study abroad next year. Peters is the second New College student to win a Fulbright this year. Cheryl White also won one permitting her to study medieval literature and linguistics at the University of Rennes in France. has chosen to use his fellowship to continue studies at Wolfson College at Oxford University. At this newest of Oxford's colleges, he plans to work in the philosophy much like his precedessor and former classmate, Dennis Kezar, is doing at Oxford's New College. A member of the charter class at New College, Peters' pace was interrupted when he was injured in a traffic accident during tne first year and he chose to remain a fourth year on campus in order to complete his education. During this past term, Peters has been teaching a special seminar in philosophy open to adults in the community. On his completion of the program at Oxford, Peters plans to enter Yale University and work toward his doctorate in philosophy. 30
