Arthur FOR RELEASE: SUNDAY, JANU/lRY 7, 1968 OR AFTER SARASOTA--Registrations for the second series of lectures on drama being sponsored by College and January 16 have been coming in at a rapid rate, the college announced today. Ten lectures on "Classic and Hodern Patterns in Drama" will be given by Dr. N. Bryllion Fagin, professor emeritus of Johns Hopkins Univ ersity, on succeeding Tuesdays through March 19. Each of the lectures be held at 4 p.m. in the Husic Room of College Hall on the Palmer Campus of the colleP,e. Last year's series drew capacity crowds for each of the 10 lectures on modern drama. This year, Professor Fagin uill begin with Aeschylus' "Agamemnon" and in succeedinP, ueeks <>radually trace the development of drama through the controversial Peter Heiss' 11Harat/Sade". Included in the series will be discussions of uorks by Sophocles, Euripides, Shakespeare, Racine, Jean Cocteau, Eugene O'Neill and Jack Richardson. NE\-1 COLLEGE Page 2 Professor Fagin said that emphasis t-7ill be laid on a group of plays which will be examined as representative of the kind of theater for which they were tYritten. Formerly associate professor of English at Johns Dr. Fagin since 195& has associated with the university as lecturer. He also \-Tas director of the Johns Hopkins Playhouse for 27 years and has written a number of books on dramatists. Each of the plays to be discussed by Dr. Fagin is available in paperback form at the Campus at Net-T College. His lecture series from last year also is available to students for listening on tapes in the college's audio-visual center.
