PAGE 1 NEWS RELEASE NEW COLLEGE SARASOTA, FLORIDA 33578 813 / 355-7131 1 105 -2/5/68 Ref.: Furman C. Arthur FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE SARASOTA--New College President John Elmendorf is in Freeport. Grand Bahama Island, this week (February 5-8) to attend a meeting of the presidents of the 12 member institutions of the Union for Research and Experimentation in Higher Education. Dr. Elmendorf said that the presidents of the Union, which New College was invited to join last year. meet annually to discuss matters of mutual concern. A chief topic at this year's meeting will be the problems of implementing experimentation and innovation in higher education, with particular emphasis on funding. Other member institutions to be represented by their presidents will be Antioch, Bard, Goddard, Illinois Teachers North, Loretto Heights, Monteith, Nasson, Sarah Lawrence, Shimer and Stephens colleges and Hofstra University.
