Arthur SUGGESTED FOR tjlUR'SDA-, APRIL 18, 1968 SARASOTA--A former U.S. ambassador to Bolivia, now active in Caribbean affairs, will give a public talk tomorrow night (Friday) at New College. Dr. Ben Stephansky, now a Ford Foundation official, will on current developments in Latin America and the Caribbean at Hamilton Center at 7:15 p.m. Dr. Stephansky, who has been meeting with students and faculty this week, will be guest of honor at a dinner preceding the talks. Attending will be students and area citizens interested in Latin American affairs. They will meet with a man who was brought to this country from Russia as a child, but who earned a special scholarship to the University of Wisconsin and went on to take his Ph.D. in economics. Specializing in the field of labor, Dr. Stephansky became an adviser to the Bureau of Inter-American Affairs of the Department of State after serving as a labor attache for the government in more PAGE 2 NEtv COLLEGE -Page 2 Dr. Stephansky, after his service as ambassador to Bolivia, was executive secretary to the U.S.-Puerto Rico Commission on the status of that commonwealth nation. He now is engaged in a special research project for the Twentieth Century Fund in the Central American and Caribbean area in addition to his Ford commitment. The speaker also has been a member of the faculty at Sarah Lawrence College and the University of Chicago. 30 - |
