NEW COLLEGE, SARASOTA, FLORIDA FURMAN C. ARTHUR INFORMATION FOR RELEASEs MAY 11, 1967 Second year New College student Cheryl NcWhorter will offer a flute and piccolo recital Friday (May 12) in the Music Room of College Hall at 8100 p.m. The recital is open to the public. Miss McWhorter will be accompanied in her recital by Mrs. Jerome Meachen. A music major at New College, Miss McWhorter is a member of the Florida West Coast Symphony, the Sarasota and Manatee Community Bands, the Symphony Youth Orchestra and the Church of the Redeemer Choir. She also teaches under the symphony scholarship program. She has been studying both the flute and piccolo for 10 years and is now working with Miss Patricia Stenberg, a member of the New College faculty. She has given two previous recitals at New College. On the program will be Handel's Sonata Number v, Baston's Concertina in D, Poulenc's Sonata, three of !bert's L'Histoires, and Burton's Sonatina. 30
