NEWS RELEASE March 14, 1967 NEW COLLEGE, SARASOTA, FLORIDA FURMAN C ARTHUR INFORMATION FOR IMMEDIATE RELF..ASE New College students, Glenda Cimino and Laurie Paulson, were judged poets at the Poetry Workshop of the UniverAity of South Florida this past weekend. Fewer than 10 of the 26 students participating received this rating. There were 13 Florida colleges represented at the workshop, two students from each school. Noted poets, Archibald J.facteish, Robert Wallace, and lians Jergensen, were judges for the event. The poets also in other aspects of the two-day gathering of poets from across the state. Each participant in the workshop submitted several in the com-petition and then read one or two of them aloud for the judges. This was the second year students from New College participated in the Miss Cimino, a third-year student at New College, has won a number of other prizes for her poetry. Paulson, a second-year student, is a columnist for the New College student newspaper and edits its Literary Supplement -3o-
