/ NEWS RELEASE NEw CoLLEGE SARASOTA, FLORIDA 3 3578 8 1 3 / 355-7131 1 69 -12/13/67 Ref.: Furman C. Arthur FOR RELEASE: SUNDAY. DECEMBER 17, 1967 A violin recital be given by Richard L. Hoffman at 3:15 p.m. today (December 17) in the Music Room Df Hall on the New College campus. The musical performance is open to the publie without charge. Performin8 a four-part program, the Chicago violinist will play music by Brahms, Halton, Chaynes and Escobar. Hoffman, performed in recitals here in 1960 and 1963, studied music at the Eastman School, graduating in 1955. A violinist since he 1vas i1ve, Hoffman was formerly concertmaster of the Youth Orchestra of Greater Chicago and has been a soloist with an Illinois symphony orchestra. His program ,.,ill consist of Johannes Brahms' Sonata No. 3 in D Hinor, Hilliam Halton's Concerto in B Minor, Charles Chaynes' Six Little Italian Pictures, and Amadeo Escobar's Three Gypsy Pieces. He be accompanied at the piano by }fiss Dora Alanen. In his tlo:o previous appearances in Sarasota, Hoffman gave recitals at the Florida Hest Coast Symphony Rehearsal Hall. 30
