Mailed May 1966 NEW COLLEGE, SARASOTA, FLORIDA FURMAN C ARTHUR -INFORMA T/ON FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE A ne'tv textbook on a specialized area of mathematics Hritten by a Ne't T College faculty member has been published by a major textbook firm. "Inverse Functions," written by Dr. Hilliam K. Smith, professor of mathematics at College, has been published by The Hacmillan Company. Dr. Smith began the book shortly before joining the faculty in 1964 and completed the manuscript vhile on campus. He said that it is a supplementary text, dealing 'tlith an area of mathe-matics not usually covered adequately in the study of calculus. Dr. Smith is the author of several other texts including a standard college mathematics text which he ttrote with another mathematician and a spe-cialized text, "Limits and Continuity," which 'tvas published in 1964. -30-
