; __ COLLEGE NEWS RELEASE NEW COLLEGE, SARASOTA, FLORIDA FURMAN C. ARTHUR INFORMATION FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Sarasota, Fla.--A New York bank official has been appointed Pro-fessor of Economics at New College, beginning in the second term of the 1966-67 academic year. Dr. Norris o. Johnson, senior vice president of the First National City Bank of New York, has been named to the New College faculty, it was announced today by Dr. Rollin B. Posey, chairman of the Division of Social Sciences. In addition to his teachine duties at New College Dr. Johnson will act as an economic consultant and will continue his service on a number of committees dealing international financial and economic problems. New Collep,e accepted its first students in 1964 and, as a liberal arts college, stresses individual responsibility of students in the learning process. Dr. Johnson has a Bachelor of Science degree from Syracuse University and both the Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from Har-vard University. He began his banking career with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and by 1942 was manager of the Research Department.
