NEW COLLEGE NEWS RELEASE NEW COLLEGE, SARASOTA, FLORIDA FURMAN C ARTHUR INFORMATION FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May s. 1966 Sarasota, Fla.--L. w. Horning, formerly vice president of the New York Central Railroad and for 48 years associated with the American railroad in-dustry, has been named a member of the New College Board of Trustees. Mr. Horning retired in 1963 from the New York Central although he is still active as a neutral referee in National Mediation Board affairs. After graduation from the University of Indiana, he was associated with the Raih1ay Express Agency for 17 years, as counsel for the Associated Railways of Indiana, and later regional director of the Association of American Railroads. He joined the New York Central System in 1941 and was name a vice presi-dent in charge of personnel in 1943 and vice president of the railroad in 1957. Mr. Horning is a member and former national president of Sigma Delta Kappa, the Columbia Club (Indianapolis), Burning Tree Country Club and Carlton Club (lvashington), and the Sarasota Yacht Club and Sarasota Bay Country Club. The Hornings now make their home in Sarasota, where he is active as a member of the Sarasota County Industrial Development Commission, a member of the board of directors of Happiness House (nandicapped children), a member of the Florida Republican Finance Committee and Protestant chairman of the Sarasota Chapter of the National Conference of Christians and Jews. -30-
