June 30, 1966 -pix to Sar. B T and Brad H NEW COLLEGE, SARASOTA, FLORIDA FURMAN C ARTHUR INFORMATION FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Arthur Hc.A. Miller, a faculty member and faculty resident in the student dormitories at New College, has been named assistant dean. In his ne'l-7 position Miller Hill work closely students in non-academic affairs including student government and residence life. He also will continue to teach in the Division of Humanities where he has had responsibility for English and comparative literature. l1iller will work closely with the Office of Student Affairs, which is headed by Robert J. Norwine. A neH office for student affairs is ex-pected to be established in Hamilton Court, a student dining and social center now under construction on the college's East Campus. Miller also continues as a faculty resident in the East Campus student dormitories where he lives with his wife and two children. Within the last several ,.,eeks completed requirements for the doctoral degree at Duke University and he returns to the North Carolina campus in September for the conferring of the Ph.D. degree. Hiller is a native of Ruskin, Fla., son of Mr. and Hrs. l.Jillard D. Miller of that city. earned his bachelors degree at Princeton University with highest honors and the masters degree at Duke. He taught for two summers at the University of Tampa and was an officer with the U. s. Air Force for two years. He has been a member of the New College faculty since 1964. -30-
