FOR Ufr1EDIATE RELEASE NEW COLLEGE SARASOTA, FLORIDA NOVEMBER 4, 1965 A University of London lecturer in the field of English Literature will speak about the English novel at 3 p.m. Wednesday at College Hall on the New College campus. Miss Diana Neill will give a lecture on "The Contemporary English Novel". The lecture is open to the student body and to the general public. On the following day she will hold a special seminar with Net.r College students, particularly those specializing in the field of literature. Neill has been lecturing in England for a number of years. Since 1947 she has been responsible as a University of London lecturer for the diploma in English literature, a four-year course. Her own book, "A Short History of the English Novel," was first published in 1951 and has been reprinted eight times including a revised edition in 1964. Several of her diploma students have gained distinctions such as winning scholarships to Cambridge and the publishing of novels, poems and short stories. Miss Neill is lecturing at New College as part of the Humanities program under the chairmanship of Dr. Arthur R. Borden Jr. -30-
