, I \ I \ I ._ May 18, 1965 To: Dailies and Local Radio (local) -1 NEW COLlEGE, FlORIDA FURMAN C. ARTHUR -INFG.raMTJON FOR RELEASE: RECEIPT Syd Solomon, Sarasota artist and visiting professor of art at Ne\.; College, has been selected as the sole juror for the annual exhibition of paint-ings, sculpture, and graphics of The Arts Festival of Atlanta. Solomon will judge the entries from 17 universities participating in this major exhibition. He was no minated by the Arts Festival committee as being 11one of the outstanding international artists \JOrking in the Southeast, and the only regional artist invited to be represe.nted in the 1965 Contemporary American Painting and Sculpture Exhibition conducted by the University of Illinois." While in Atlanta, Solomon will deliver an address on May 21 to com-bined art schools and university art departments at the Georgia Institute of Tech-nology Auditorium. He will discuss the experiences of the charter year of the Fine Arts Institute of College and other West Coast art activities. Solomon will also, while in Atlanta, collect data from museum officials concerning this successful arts festival for the files of the Allied Arts Council of Sarasota and Hanatee Counties. -30-
