For Release: Immediately NEW COLLEGE, SARASOTA, FLORIDA FURMAN C ARTHUR INFORMATION LEADING EDUCATOR APPOINTED COLLEGE ACADEMIC OFFICER Sarasota, Florida--Or. Nell P. Eurich, teacher, administrator and consultant on academic affairs, today was named chief academic officer of New College. Formerly acting president of s i.:ephens College, a member of the fa-culty of New York University, and an administrator at several colleges, Dr. Eurich will serve on an interim basis as educational coordinator for the college, which includes the duties of dean of the college. Already familiar with New College affairs as a trustee and a consul-tant, she is expected to begin her new dut.ies by April 4. The new academic officer, wife of Dr. Alvin c. Eurich, president of the Institute of Humanistic Studies in Aspen, Colorado, has held admin-istrative positions at Barnard College, the s tate University of New York and the University of Texas. She also was an executive director of the \"fuite House Conference on the American Family while serving as a foundation executive. Prior to joining New College as a trustee in 1963, she had served as a consultant for its eclucational program and also in selection of its architect. New College President Dr. George F. Baughman said that an exhaustive search is being conducted for a person to head the academic affairs of the college on a continuing basis. # # #
