NEW COLLEGE, SARASOTA, FLORIDA FURMAN C. ARTHUR INFORMATION FOR RELE.t\SE: JULY 22, 1965 Dr. Sarah J. Stephens, a chemical physicist from NeH has been selected as i\ssociate Professor of Physics for the ::ew College aca-demic year beginning this September. Jaw engaged in research on gases and the surface properties of metals, Dr. Stephens received her bachelor's degree from Centenary College, Loui-siana, and her doctorate in physical chemistry from the University of Texas. While in Texas, she held teaching, research and duPont fellowships before joining the research staff of Bell Telephone Laboratories in New Jersey. Dr. Stephens, who has also taught at Pe'v dexico Highlands University, brings to :.e,.;r College her ,.;ride experience in teaching science from the freshman through the graduate school levels. -30-
