NEWS RELEASE N E w CoL LEGE 1-201 5/23/68 SAR ASOTA, FLO R IDA 33578 813/ 35 5 7131 For Immediate Release An exhibition of paintings by E. George Rogers of Naples will be shown in the new gallery of Hamilto n Center onthe New College campus beginning Saturday. (Hay 25) Rogers, who is the father of two daughters attending New College, began to study art at the Winchester Art School in England before he came to the United States in 1913. He gave up painting as a career to pursue work as an accountant and hotel owner. In 1947 he retired and again took up art seriously, studying under Arnold Blanch at the F1orida Gulf Coast Art Center in Clearwater. Rogers has won recognition in exhibitions throughout the eastern and southeastern states, including numerous one-man shows. He was selected as one of the artists to participate in the "Manpower Executive Easel Art Show" that was exhibited through out this country and Europe Recently, Rogers has been conducting lectures with slides showing the importance of art in life, particularly for businessmen. His New Col1cge show presents paintings done during the past eighteen months. At a later date, Rogers will give a talk a t New College. It will be open to the public. I
