NEWS RELEASE NEW COLLEGE SARASOTA, FLORIDA 33578 1 101 -1/31/68 813 / 355-7131 Ref.: Furman c. Arthur FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: SARASOTA--New College has been elected a member of The Association of American Colleges, (AAC) President John Elmendorf said today. AAC, founded in 1915, is a voluntary organization of colleges of liberal arts and sciences, organized to promote higher education in all its forms among its member colleges. At present there are more than 750 member colleges in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and Canada. New College, said President Elmendorf, was elected on recommendation of the AAC board of directors, who met earlier this month in Minneapolis, Minn., only a little more than one month after the college was accredited. Accreditation is necessary for membership. 30 -
