FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Sent to local papers and radio NEW COLLEGE, SARASOTA, FLORIDA FURMAN C ARTHUR INFORMATION Sarasota Author John D. MacDonald will highlight a one-day meeting of the Florida College English Association meeting at New College Saturday tvith a luncheon speech on campus tomorrow. About 75 members of the FCEA are expected to attend the annual spring meeting of the group, unofficially opens tonight delegates attend-ing the Asolo Festival production of "As You Like It.'' "Popular Fiction, Then and Now, n t-lill be the theme of the Saturday morning work session of the meeting. Sarah Herndon, of Florida State University moderate a panel made up of John Gardner of Biscayne College, l.Jilliam Scheuerle (CQ), University of South Florida, and Albert Hmvard Carter of Florida Presbyterian College, each of whom will talk briefly on special topics under the general theme. The second session will feature George Harper of the University of Florida speaking on the subject of "He'd Rather Fight Than Switch: Some Observations on a 'Teaching'Degree." The luncheon meeting at which Author MilcDonald 1-1ill talk on "Compulsion and Butterflies" till be the concluding portion of the meeting. Edgar H. Hirsh-berg of the University of South Florida, president of the FCEA, will preside. Dr. Arthur R. Borden Jr. and Dr. Robert H. RIH'J&, both of the College faculty, head the committee on arrangements. -30-
