ARTHUR INFORMATION Sept. 15, 1966 Franklyn E. Meyer, award winning author, teacher, and athletic director, has been named recreation coordinator at NelV' College. Meyer succeeds Peter W. Odell who has been named to the position of ad-missions counselor in addition to his duties as tutor in Spanish. A graduate of Missouri University where he studied creative writing, Ueyer also attended Dartmouth College, Valley College, and Hashington University. After serving as an officer with the United States Marines, Meyer joined the Out of Door School in Sarasota in 1957 as social studies and English teacher and athletic director. Creative writing continues to be one of his major interests. He won the Charles W. Follett Award in 1962 for his book "Me and Caleb," which was named the "best contribution to children's literature." Meyer also is a frequent con-tributor to magazines and his articles have appeared in such periodicals as All Florida, Parents', True, and various other men's magazines. Meyer has full responsibility for all recreational activities in the col-lege program including organizing sailing, swimming, wrestling, volleyball, touch football, golf, and tennis competition. Married and the father of three children, Meyer makes his home in Venice. -30-
