COLLEGE NEWS RELEASE NEW COLLEGE, SARASOTA, FLORIDA FURMAN C. ARTHUR INFORMATION FOR RELEASE: SUNDAY, OCTOBER 2, 1966 Ralph D. Henry, directed alumni and parents affairs at Albion College for three years, has been named Director of Development at New College. Announcement of the appointment was made by New College President John Elmendorf. Henry assumes his new duties Honday. Hhile at Albion, Henry had a major responsibility in working alumni, parents, foundations and corporations in raising a portion of the $4 million that the church-related collep,e needed to match a $2 million Ford Foundation challenge gift. Henry was for five years director of alumni relations for Hamline University where he received his undergraduate degree. During this time he received national awards from the American Alumni Council for the ef-fectiveness of the university program in alumni lV"Ork. Prior to his collegiate work, the new development officer was in business for himself in Minneapolis and Ft. tvorth, Texas. President Elmendorf said that Henry be responsible for plan-ning and coordinating the development of resources for Nel-l College. -more-

Active in civic affairs, Henry has been a school board member, president of a P.T.A., member of the board of trustees of his church, and a worker for the Cub Scouts. Henry, who is married and has children, served tvith the U.S. Infantry in Europe during Horld Har II. -30-
