NEW COLLEGE, SARASOTA, FLORIDA FURMAN C. ARTHUR INFORMATION FOR RELEASE A youne Hest Coast mathematician teaching in Alaska has been named assistant professor of mathematics at Nel-l College. Roger Renne, an assistant professor at the University of Alaska. joins the Nelol College faculty in September. After earning his bachelor's degree at Reed College in mathe-matics, Renne received his master's degree at the University of California at Berkeley and completed all requirements for his doctorate with the ex-ception of his thesis. Attending Berkeley as a National Science Foundation fellow, he held a teachine assistantship for two years, was a lecturer in mathematics at the University of and then joined the faculty at the University of Alaska. -30-
