One thing we're not is modest. At New College we believe we're working out a distinctive edu-cational program that is going to influence the whole pattern of undergraduate education in this country. That's why the College was chartered in 1960 and why it opened its doors in 1964. That's why more than 300 superior students and 50 top notch teachers have been attracted to this fledgling institution during its first three academic years, and why more than two-thirds of them are still here. That's why New College has become well and favorably known throughout the educational world even before it has graduated its first class. We don't claim to have all the answers, but we do believe that no one is looking harder or more imaginatively for the answers than we are. Educational experimentation at New College isn't just a divisional project or the concern of a few professors and administrators--it's the whole story. In this type of presentation we can only hope to arouse your interest. It you'd really like to know what we're doing and hoping to do, particularly if you have some money to invest in a bold but not very affluent institution, please write to President John Elmendorf, New College, Sarasota, Florida 33578. Or better yet, come visit us.
