NEW COLLEGE, SARASOTA, FLORIDA FURMAN C. ARTHUR INFORMATION FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE A specialist in Latin American governments and international relations has been appointed a tutor in Political Science at New College. William L. Furlong will arrive on the New College campus in time for the second term which begins Jan. 4. A graduate of the University of Utah, he is a candidate for the Ph.D. degree at the University of Florida. When Furlong joins the faculty he will have collected the data for his doctoral dissertation and he expects to write thesis and secure the degree within one year. He graduated from the University of Utah in 1962 and earned the M.A. degree from the same university the following year. Furlong is now a staff member of the Institute of Public Administration which has headquarters in New York City. In this capacity, he is a member of the research project staff working in Lima, Peru, and LaPaz, Bolivia. Be is a member of the social sciences honorary fraternity Phi Sigma Alpha and a member of the Southern Political Science Association. -30-
