NEW COLLEGE NEWS RELEASE FOR RELEASE: UPON RECEIPT NEW COLLEGE, SARASOTA, FLORIDA FURMAN C ARTHUR -IN FORMAT/ON October 19, 1965 Dr. Peter F. Buri: of the Division of Natural Sciences at New College, will attend a meeting of the Commission on Undergraduate Education in Biological Sciences (CUEB) in Washington, D. C., October 23-24. He will be chairman of a panel on the role of biology in the liberal sciences during the two-day meeting. The CUEB is one of eight established under the sponsor-ship of the National Science ?oundation to serve as planning and coordinating groups for the improvement of college and university in the sciences and mathematics. Concerned primarily with education the undergraduate level, CUEB h.::ts as its primary concern closing the gap betvteen major advances in biological research and the content of undergraduate courses in biology. Dr. Buri has been actively with the Commission since its founding three years ago. He joined the New College faculty this year, coming here from San Francisco State College he tve.s professor of Biology. -30-
