NEW COLLEGE, SARASOTA, FLORIDA FURMAN C ARTHUR INFORMATION FOR RELEASE: WED., May 26, 1965 A banker and civic worker instrumental in the affairs of Mer College since its founding, today uas named to its Board of Trustees. Emmet Addy, president and director of the Sarasota Rank & Trust Company, has accepted an invitation to join the board, to chairman Louis H. Hhen the Sarasota College Committee first founded by the Sarasota County Chamber of Commerce in 1959 to helo a college to this area, he was a member and remained active this until College \vas incorporated in 1960. Later, he was to serve as co-chairMan of the Advance Gifts Committee during the successful initial fund raising effort. Since that time he has served in an advisory capacity on a number of occasions. Addy, vho was a department store executive in Tampa prior to -nJ II, came to Sarasota in 1946 after service as a lieutenant colonel in the United States Air Force. In addition to his presidency of the Sarasota Bank & Trust Company, he is vice chairman and director of the American Bank of Sarasota, director, First Federal Savings & Loan Association of Sarasota, 'lanasota Rank, and -r.lorida Ladder Company, advisory director, Founders Life Assurance Company of and presi-dent, Sarasota !Iemorial Park. -more-

Trustee Addy Page 2 Actively involved in many civic activities since coming to Sarasota, Addy a member of the Sarasota County Hospital Board for 10 years and is a past president of the Sarasota County Chamber of Commerce. Addy is a native of ':innesota, and attended the University of 11innesota, majorinr; in business adninistration. He is married to the former Alicia Pankin of Tampa and they have one son, Calvert. The Addys make their home in Sarasota. If
