FOR RELEASE: (ltv\ [ NEW COLLEGE, SARASOTA, FLORIDA FURMAN C ARTHUR INFORMATION Mrs. Hilliam B. Kip of Siesta Key has been named to the Ne\v College Board of Trustees, according to an announcement by Chairman Louis H. LaMotte. The recently retired president of the Allied Arts Council is an active civic worker both in the Sarasota area and in Tannersville, Ne\>1 York, -.;Jhere she and her husband have their summer home. Most recent of her activities was as founding president of the Allied Arts Council which offers a coordinating service for the varied community art groups. Although she retired after three years as president, she remains as vice president. Mrs. Kip Has educated at the Foxcroft School in Virginia and at the Chapin School in her native Ne1.v York City, She first came to Sarasota in 1934. She was one of those persons instrumental in obtaining an enabling act to permit Sarasota County to zone. Mrs. Kip was one of the founders of the Botanical Gardens and is an honorary -more-

She also is a member of the board of directors of the Sarasota County Civic League, past president of Siesta Club and also of Sanderling Beach, Inc. During the initial fund effort for New College Mrs. Kip served as a division chairman and she no\-7 serves on a special college committee and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Homen's Library Association of New College. Equally active as a resident of the Onteora Club in Tannersville during the summer, she was president of the club for eight years, and still is a director. She also is past president of the garden club there and past president of two Parent-Teacher Associations. The Kips have t\vO children and four grandchildren. -30-
