NEW COL LEGE, SARASOTA, FLORIDA FURMAN C ARTHUR INFORMATION FOR RELEASE: JULY 30, 1965 Announcement has been received of a third 1'-lerit Scholarship to become a member of the New College class of 1968. Kenneth Steven S"min, of Columbus Junction, lm-ta, is the son of Hrs. Vernon Jackson Swain, and completed his secondary education with honors at Columbus Community High School. S\-1ain, in addition to receiving the National Herit /\t.1ard, was a member of the National Honor Society and a delegate to the National Youth Conference on the Atom. He was active in dramatics, a member of the mixed chorus, and was a letterman in baseball. Swain comes to New College with the highest recom-mendation from his High School teachers. Two students in the Charter Class of New College also came from Iowa: Dennis Kezar (Ames), an Iowa State undefeated dual wrestler before coming to New College, and was a finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program; Thomas Lawson (Spencer) was also an outstanding student and a member of the National Honor Society. The other two Herit Scholars coming to Nct-1 College are George Hinkle of Kankakee, Ill., and Theodore Shoemaker, of Hinnetka, Ill. -30-
