ARTHUR -INFORMATION FOR I !HI:DIATE RELI:ASI: Honorary memberships in the New College alumni body went today to the chairmen of the ltanatee and Sarasota County Commissions at special cere-monies on campus. Auarded soecial memberships as honorary alumni Here Hanatee County Commission Chairman Dan :1cClure and Sarasota County Commissioner L. L. Parker. !aking the presentation to the tt-10 county officials t-1as L. S. Horning, president of the Friends of 1;e,., College, sponsors of the honorary alumni at1ards. Dr. George F. Baughman, president of Hew College, t-1as unable to be present for the ceremony because of illness. Following the alumni at-lard ceremonies in the Husic Room of College Hall, the special guests, members of the county commissions from each county, plus members of the NeH College faculty and staff, lunched together in the college dining hall and then toured the campus, including the recently com-pleted East Campus residence halls. Horning, in making the presentation of the honorary memberships, praised the roles of the tHo commissions for their cooperation and support of dew College during its founding. Noting that he was acting on behalf of President Baughman in making the presentations, Horning said that he expressed the appreciation of the president and the entire college for all that the countv commissions had done to help make :Jetl College possible. -more-
