FOR RELEASE: AUGUST 1, 1965 (Written by Palmer Bevis) NEW COLLEGE, SARASOTA, FLORIDA FURMAN C ARTHUR INFORMATION As the current season at the Sarasota Kennel Club draws to a close, dog racing fans on the West Coast are heartened by the announcement by the State Racing Commission that there will be a special matinee on Fri-day, August 6, at 2 p.m., for the benefit of the Friends of New College Scholarship Fund. Jerry Collins, owner of the Sarasota Dog Track, is pre-paring a special racing card for this day. Commenting on the event, L. W. Horning, president of Friends of New College, said, "New College is extremely grateful to the State Racing Commission and to Jerry Collins for making this benefit possible. Dozens of incoming students need financial assistance over and above what their parents can afford to pay. This supplement to the regular scholarship funds of the college will make possible more generous student aid when additional assistance is indicated. -30-
